Hi! I'm a commercial photographer and a dedicated photo educator. My nickname is Mistress of Light since I teach mostly lighting in natural, speedlights or with studio strobes. My goal as an educator is to help you find the tools and techniques to be the kind of photography that YOU want to be, not to imitate anyone else. As a people photographer, it's important to have a concept, or an idea of what the story that you want to tell in that particular image of your subject. Once your are clear about your mood and description then use your lighting, posing, directing, tonalities and colors, environment, focal length and aperture, expressions, etc. to match that idea.
When I teach lighting, I always talk about the "Big Three" which is the direction, quality and depth of light. Each of these aspects is a separate decision and they must combine together to compliment the concept of the portrait.
Pushing the boundaries of your creativity help you grow as an artist. Making mistakes is a great education and helps you to really know how to approach and not approach your image making. My workshops are fun, too! We learn and lot, laugh a lot, and make some wonderful images.
